Our Puppies
We love our puppies, and we do our best to make sure they know they are loved. We hand whelp our precious pups in our own home, in a safe, peaceful environment where their mother’s can feel comfortable. From the very get go and until the sweet puppy goes to it’s forever home with you, we take pride in caring for our puppies in a way that helps them be exposed to a variety of different sounds, smells, people, and experiences. This helps the puppy get started off on the right paw.
At 4 weeks old we move our puppies right into the middle of our home to the family room. We live in a teeny, tiny little house, while we are saving to build so it can be a little much at times, but we enjoy it.
When we had our baby we got some great advice, namely to always make sure some type of sound is going on while the baby sleeps. He gets used to the noise and comfortable enough to sleep through it. This has been a lifesaver for us. He has slept through many basketball games believe it or not! We try to do the same with our puppies. At any one time, I may have the dishwasher, tv, washer and dryer, other household noises, and the noises that come with raising a small family (read as crying) going on. This is a benefit to our puppies as it enables them sleep through, and be comfortable with, just about anything.
We have created “puppy haven” in our yard for play time. Don’t be fooled by the name, our momma dogs love it as well. It is complete with grass, turf, wood, carpet, and vinyl surfaces to play on. A puppy pool, lots of toys, and an obstacle course, straw bales, an open dog house and a doggy door. This provides hours of fun and learning for the puppies. It exposes them to many different textures, sounds, smells, and scenarios, which helps makes adaptable dogs.
Even though we only have a 1 year old, we realize how important it is for your puppy to interact and play with kids. Puppies are so impressionable in the first few months of life so positive experiences with kids are a must! Luckily we have lots of family and friends with little ones that love puppy cuddles.
Some other helpful experiences we give the puppies are baths and brushing, visiting the vet, socializing with other adult dogs, and introducing them to a crate as a place to rest.
We feel very privileged to be a part of your new puppy experience. We do everything in our power to make sure these puppies are cared for and cherished so that it can be a seamless transition from our home to yours.
